Adam’s Journey
Born with challenges, growing with courage
Adam was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) at birth. From the very beginning, he faced significant challenges. He had difficulty sucking, was very floppy, cried very little, and required tube feeding for about one month while staying in hospital.
As Adam grew, his development came with many obstacles. He experienced developmental delay and needed extra support to reach milestones that many children achieve naturally. His journey has included medical barriers, therapy needs, learning challenges, food-seeking behaviour, weight management and daily support needs.
But Adam’s story is not only about challenges. It is also a story of courage, effort and hope. Despite the barriers in front of him, Adam continues to surprise us every day. He gives his 100% and keeps achieving one step at a time.
Adam is a friendly boy who loves meeting people. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, going for walks, being active and joining activities. He has a big smile that brings happiness to the people around him.
One of Adam’s special strengths is how engaged he is with daily life. He often reminds his dad about appointments and other things that need to be done at home. These small moments show his awareness, kindness and desire to be included.
Although Adam needs support in his day-to-day life, he continues to move forward with determination. His journey reminds us that progress does not always happen quickly, but every achievement matters. With love, structure, medical care, family support and community understanding, Adam continues to grow and inspire.
